A hot topic circulating these days is the impact of ChatGPT on human life. I find this artificial intelligence technology fascinating and have experimented with some of its features. ChatGPT truly feels like a monumental scientific contribution, a revolutionary product following the advent of smartphones. Here, I’d like to share some personal experiences of using ChatGPT to assist with work from the perspective of a non-computer specialist.
ChatGPT is a project developed by OpenAI, primarily designed to simulate conversations and mimic human language expression. Its potential functions are countless, proving extremely helpful in tasks like literary creation, customer service, and information gathering. Unlike other search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Baidu, ChatGPT has distinctly different functionalities. While search engines provide a plethora of related information that requires careful filtering by the user to find useful content, ChatGPT’s conversation simulation feature directly provides answers, saving considerable time. However, it's important to note that the content provided by ChatGPT is not 100% accurate or completely up-to-date. As of now, ChatGPT’s latest data is from 2021, so it cannot recognize events that have occurred after that year. For instance, when I used ChatGPT to answer some financial questions, the information obtained was not entirely accurate.
In terms of article creation, ChatGPT is a powerful auxiliary tool. It can help authors analyze articles more quickly and effectively, check grammar and formatting, identify problems and potential solutions, and supplement the article with knowledgeable conclusions and comments. (Note: This article was also checked by ChatGPT before being published.) ChatGPT is an efficient intelligent tool that reduces the time spent on manual data collection, making writing smoother. Of course, ChatGPT also has its limitations in writing. It does not perform logical analysis on articles; if the content is logically inconsistent, ChatGPT will not correct it. Moreover, since ChatGPT’s information is collected and combined from a database, its suggestions follow a predetermined pattern, which might reduce the originality of the article if overly relied upon.
The development of artificial intelligence is evolving rapidly. With every new technological product, we hold great expectations. However, one principle remains unchanged: all inventions are means by which humans explore the unknown. We set goals and use the most effective methods to accomplish tasks. Scientific tools are auxiliary in nature and should not be relied upon entirely, causing us to lose our own direction. I hope, dear friends, that as you play with your phones or use OpenAI to solve problems, you clearly understand the role these tools play in your life.
